Bielefelder City Walk #22 with Cynthia Krell - Art in Public Space: Who looks at this?

Meeting point: Bielefelder Kunstverein, Welle 61, BielefeldDestination: Bielefelder AltstadtDuration: ca. 1,5 Stunden

Art in everyday life often causes perplexity - if anyone reacts at all. Because many people often go past sculptures, fountains, installations, murals or ground works carelessly. Art is not recognized as such. Therefore, the city walk not only leads into the sculpture park of the Kunsthalle Bielefeld, but also focuses on the seemingly casual art in public space. It is about an approach through a subjective perception, an approach in exchange about it or through artistic interventions.

Special tour »Let's face it! - faces and images to compare« with Prof. Johannes Grave, Joris C. Heyder and Britta Hochkirchen (in German language) as part of the GENIALE-Festival 18. bis 26. August 2017)

Do you sometimes compare your picture on your messenger with those of your friends? Referring to the exhibition »FaceTunes« we would like to try out what happens, if several images of facial representations come together in one room. Sometimes it's bothering to look at certain images in a row, but most of the time this arrangement is a great chance to sharpen the own senses. During this guided tour we want to scrutinise and exemplify different ways of seeing and comparing.

Bielefelder City Walks 2017 - 2nd prep meeting with a city walk

Let's start walking! We start our city walk (about 1.5 h, Bielefeld Centre) at the Bielefelder Kunstverein. While walking, we will try out different approaches and formats: e.g. methods for the activation of the participants, but also random principles, different methods of mapping and aesthetic appropriation of the public space by Urban Art. At the request of the group, performative exercises as well as different performances of the talk and the moderation can be tried out. There are also lots of practical tips!
